Hello! My name is Michael Botelho. I would consider myself a new media artist, as I dabble in a lot of different fields that revolve around computers and technology. I began my educational career at Parson School of Design, where I studied everything from painting, technical and life drawing, sculpture, color theory and structural engineering, to web design and development, video production, fiction and poetry.
Seeking a more generalized education I enrolled at the University of Massachusetts at Boston. There I grounded myself in History, Economics, Anthropology, Psychology, Literature, Film Theory and Criticism, Art History, as well as more advanced Video Production and Post-Production. While at Umass, I worked as an A/V Technician learning the ins and outs of Single Reel and Platter System 35mm film Projectors, as well as High Definition DLP systems. I also set up and recorded live televised events, hosted by a variety of politicians, media personalities, historians, and critics.
As a graduate student I attended Emerson College, with a major in new media production. It was here that I discovered where my true passions lie. I studied more advanced web development, and interactive media. New media theory and criticism. Video Production and Post Production. Motion Graphics, and 3D computer modeling and animation.
About two years ago I packed up and moved across the country to Los Angeles. I have been working here as a freelance web developer and graphic designer. I have also been working as a private instructor, training students in a variety of software packages. Please see my resume for specifics. I am fascinated with the potential of how technology and the internet are shaping the way people interact, as well as the methods of distributing and consuming mass media.
